Square Enix Announces Star Ocean: First Departure
The Japanese publisher hands more RPGs to the Sony handheld device.
by Jason Allen
There's just no stopping the Playstation Portable this year. All kinds of spectacular titles have been announced for the Sony handheld system, and today's Square Enix press event held no exceptions. The original Super Famicom Star Ocean is reborn as Star Ocean: First Departure and it's headed for PSP.

Along side the announcements for Star Ocean: Second Evolution and Star Ocean 4, First Departure is a refurbished version of the very first Star Ocean, complete with 3D graphics and CG cutscenes, not unlike the retelling of Final Fantasy III that was released on the Nintendo DS last year. Although no actual gameplay footage was shown, the screenshots we have here give a glimpse of what to expect.

The Star Ocean series is one of Square Enix's lesser known franchises that has received critical acclaim in the press, and a cult following among RPG fans. By mixing sci-fi and fantasy, the series has it's own unique footprint amongst the Square Enix family of games.

Recontagem(?) do Star Ocean 2 pro psp, não sei se vai ser um simples port ou remake mesmo...

Square Enix Announces Star Ocean: Second Evolution
The Japanese publisher shows more love for PSP.
by Jason Allen
Square Enix is going PSP crazy. Along side the announcement for Star Ocean: First Departure at their press conference today was the announcement Star Ocean: Second Evolution, a retelling of the RPG classic released on the original Playstation

When considering the build-up to Star Ocean 4, potential new fans may want to have an opportunity to explore the back story of critically acclaimed series. Second Evolution will give them just that, along with an updated presentation. This title is getting the same upgrades that First Departure is getting, complete with fresh CG cutscenes.

No release date was announced for any of the new Star Ocean games, but fret not. We expect details to start flowing in the coming months, so stay tuned.

Square Enix Announces Star Ocean 4
The new generation arrives for another popular RPG.
by Jason Allen
May 10, 2007 - At the Square Enix press conference today, Star Ocean 4 was officially announced for next-gen consoles. There were no details given on which consoles that actually entails, but we can assume that at least one of them is PS3.
Footage of what the game may look like was no where to be found at the event (all we got was a title screen), but the producer assured us that the team was working hard on the game, this being the first next-gen title for the series.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers First Details
Square Enix teased with a very short trailer of the Wii version.
by Craig Harris
Immediately after Square Enix revealed the August 23rd release date for the Nintendo DS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, the company went right in to talk about the progress being made on the Wii version of the series.

Not much was revealed on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers at the Square Enix Party Pre-Conference event this evening. A trailer was shown -- a brief video cut together from short snippets of real-time in-game footage. The video was more meant to show off the art style being employed in the game and not actual gameplay, so we got a lot of shots of the lead character -- a blond haired bloke with goggles -- jumping around in cutscenes. But it was real-time, and it looked sharp and smooth, and it looked like the game's going to be in widescreen on the Nintendo Wii. Unfortunately, Square Enix representatives requested that we do not show any photos or video of this trailer. So you'll just have to take our word for it.

Chocobo's Dungeon Exploring on Wii
The bird's ten year anniversary will be celebrated on the Nintendo console.
by Craig Harris
Hot on the heels of the surprisingly good Chocobo Tales on the DS comes the next Chocobo game for a Nintendo system: Chocobo's Dungeon Toki-Wasure no Meikyuu. The game was announced tonight at the Square Enix Party Pre-Conference Meeting, complete with the awkward appearance of a life-sized Chocobo stumbling in from off-stage.
The Wii game will mark the tenth anniversary of the first Chocobo's Dungeon game released by Square Enix. Chocobo's Dungeon Toki-Wasure no Meikyuu, according to the game's producer Yuki Yokoyama, will not just be a dungeon-crawler as it has been in the previous version. He did not go into detail on what that might entail, but he did offer tidbits in the form of a small trailer formed of quick cuts of in-game footage.
In the trailer that Square Enix requested that we not videotape or photograph, we could see that the game will feature a similar art style to that of the recently released Chocobo Tales on the Nintendo DS. Of course, the Wii game looks far superior with its sharper 3D engine. Gameplay will feature the same random dungeon, turn-based battles that the original brought to the PlayStation ten years ago, in a bigger, bolder production for Wii gamers. The adventure follows Chocobo on a quest to recover memories lost by villagers by a mysterious force, and the game footage showed these "memories" personified as shiny sparkly objects that will be collected throughout the gameplay.
In a cryptic message, Yokoyama hinted that there will be something in Chocobo's Dungeon for fans of the DS Chocobo Tales game. What that is wasn't revealed, but hopefully we'll find out more about this "connection" this weekend when we see more about Chocobo's Dungeon at the Square Enix Party.
De menos importantes é versão internacional de FFXII e nova expansão de FF XI que ninguém aqui vai jogar.
